The very popular Surajkund Crafts Mela, An heritage festival the brainchild of the Haryana tourism department was launched in 1981, It is celebrates the vibrant culture of India. This unique type of fair, occures from 1st to 15th February, is located on the background of Surajkund fair village, which shows its own simple traditional charm, tantalizing the tourists and visitors alike. At first is is held for a common man to enjoy the cultural events take in place at simply national level. But as the popularity grown up, now it has gained international recognition and people pour into Surajkund to view the gala event from all over the world.

This is a Crafts Mela, you can get a huge variety of handicrafts and handlooms country made items. Beneath thatched roof platforms, master craftsmen carefully made all these products with their skills. The event is so lovely, colourful and rich in cultural activities, that it has tourists returning to be a part of the mela over and over again.
Surajkund Lake an Historic Site :
The Surajkund is situated at Delhi-Haryana border only 3 km from Tughlaqbad. Its an Famous historic site just beyond Rajput Raja Surajpal of the Tomar clan (King Surajpal Singh Tomar) built the Sun Temple and the lake (Surjkund) at this site around 1000 AD, as he was a sun worshipper. This place got the name Surajkund after the name of this ruler. And The temple is now in ruins but the big lake has survived the vagaries of time.
