Agra Tour Packages

Agra is a historic city in India. It is situated on the banks of the River Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh. It served as the capital of the Mughal emperors from 1526 to 1658. To remind the world of their supremacy, the Mughal emperors built many buildings and monuments, all of which are known for their beauty and architectural wonder. Notable among them are the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the Fatehpur Sikri. These heritage sites have made Agra a favored tourist destination in India.

The Taj Mahal, set in the midst of a beautiful garden, is one of the Eight Wonders of the World. This extraordinary monument is the final resting place of Mumtaz, the beloved queen of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. This perfectly symmetrical structure is built completely out of marble. About 20,000 masons and jewelers labored hard for 22 years to give shape to this fascinating piece of art. The interior of this majestic building is replete with exquisite inlay works using semi-precious stones. Today, the Taj Mahal reminds us of the architectural excellence of the past.

The Agra fort is the most important fort in India. It has been the seat of power during the reign of great Mughal emperors Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jehangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. The imposing exteriors of this fort give way to an inner paradise. It is another example of the glorious architectural past of ancient India. Some very interesting and rare blend of both Hindu and Islamic architecture can be found inside the Agra fort.

Fatehpur Sikri is another famous World Heritage Site, just 35 kilometers away from Agra. It was the political capital of India’s Mughal Empire under Akbar’s reign from 1571 until 1585.
