Kaziranga National Park India

Find the information about the Kaziranga National Park India, which is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in the far North East of India, Assam. The total area of this park is roughly 430 square kilometers and much of its surface is covered with swamps and tall thickets of elephant grass, that make this park an ideal habitat for the Indian One-Horned Rhino. Kaziranga National Park India was declared a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1940 in an attempt to put an end to indiscriminate poaching of this endangered animal. Apart from being home to the One-Horned Rhino, Kaziranga National Park India also supports large population of Indian Elephants, Indian Bison, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Hog Deer, Sloth Bears, Tigers, Leopard Cats, Jungle Cats, Otters, Hog Badgers, Capped Langurs, Hoolock Gibbons, Wild Boar, Jackal, Wild Buffalo, Pythons and Monitor Lizards.

kaziranga sanctuary or Kaziranga National Park India is also touted as a bird watcher’s paradise as it is the nesting place of some rarely found bird species such as Oriental Honey Buzzard, Black-Shouldered Kite, Black Kite, Brahminy Kite, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, White Tailed Eagle, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle and Himalayan Griffon. A large number of migratory birds such as Greylag Geese, Bar-Headed Geese, Ruddy Shelduck, Gadwall, Falcated Duck, Red-Crested Pochard and Northern Shoveller also stopover at this park during winters. One of the best ways to take a tour of this national park is by going on an Elephant Safari that begins in the early hours of the dawn and takes the tourists through various regions of the park.
