Rajaji National Park - India

Rajaji National Park, India - Rajaji Sanctuary

If your idea of a perfect vacation is to spend some days in close contact with nature among the untamed wild then Rajaji National Park, India is a one-stop destination. In the base of the Shivalik range in between Dehradun and Haridwar the Rajaji National Park, India is known for its rich biodiversity. Rajaji National Park is the outcome of the amalgamation of Chila, Rajaji and Motichur sanctuaries. The name Rajaji comes from the well-known freedom fighter C Rajagopalachari who was lovingly called “Rajaji”.

The close proximity of this protected reserve to the Indo-Gangetic plains have resulted in the growth of flora and fauna. Apart from the 315 different birds the Rajaji National park, India is home to the mammoth tuskers, spotted deer and ghorals. Large tracts of land are covered with riverine forests, scrublands and grassy areas which are favorite haunts for the mighty elephants. After arriving at the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun you can hire a car and within an hour you can reach the Northern Boundary of this reserve.

The Haridwar Railway Station is only 8 kilometers from the Chila Sanctuary which is now a part of the reserve. As far as the eyes can see you will have an uninterrupted view of the green from the privacy of the Tourist Guest House. The nights will be especially thrilling as watching the wild animal from the privacy of your rooms is an experience that you will cherish forever. Tranquil and peaceful this place is the perfect gateway from the hectic city life. This national park is also called Rajaji Sanctuary.
