The Ranthambore National Park India was given the status of a wildlife sanctuary in the year1955 and became a part of Project Tiger around two decades later, in the year1973. Soon after, it was declared a National Park in 1981.

Set between the Aravali and Vindhya ranges, Ranthambore National Park in India covers a total area of 400 square kilometers and is located in Sawai Madhopur District of Rajasthan state. Though the tigers are the main attraction of this park, leopards, striped hyenas, sambar deer, chital, nilgai, common or hanuman langurs, macaques, jackals, jungle cats, caracals, sloth bears, black bucks, rufoustailed hare, Indian wild boar and chinkara are other noteworthy residents of this park. You can also spot Common Palm Civets or Toddy cat, Coomon Yellow Bats, Desert Cats, Fivestriped Palm Squirels, Indian False Vampires, Indian Flying Foxes, Indian Foxes, Indian Gerbilles, Indian Mole Rats, Indian Porcupines, Longeared Hedgehogs, Ratels, Small Indian Mongoose, Small Indian Civets and Common mongoose in this park.
